Members of the Germiston SAPS, the Local Criminal Records Centre and the Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development spent their 67 Minutes for Mandela Day doing the gardens at SAVF Kinross Herberg, in Germiston South. The equipment, seedlings and seeds for the creation of a vegetable garden were kindly sponsored by the Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. Great fun was had by all as they tilled the soil and planted the veggies.

The residents were also spoiled with a special party for Mandela Day, hosted by Shoprite Golden Walk.
The store sponsored a beautiful cake, as well as good things to eat for the residents.
Manger of Shoprite Golden Walk Frank Filipe and manager of Kinross Nella Siebert said the residents were thrilled with the lovely party.
A number of SAVF Kinross Herberg residents also took part in a knitting project for Mandela Day.
They donated their knitted toys to Shoprite Golden Walk, for their “Pretty Things for Little Things” Mandela Day project.
