The selfless acts of Mandela Day

Giving back to the community.

Germiston-based company Group Five Civil Engineering, together with the Project Steering Committee, did their part for Mandela Day.

The Project Steering Committee was developed from the community and it, among other things, assists Group Five with local employment.

“The committee was developed to ensure we were employing local community members and providing training, and to assist with communication with the community,” said the site engineer at Group Five Civil Engineering, Cara Bartlett.

A container, blankets and stationery were donated to the Early Birds Day Care Centre.

A fence, which will go around the day care centre, was also donated and delivered early on the morning of July 18.

An Ekurhuleni ward councillor, Mbuyiseli Xakambana, was also present at the handover.

“We are happy that we could do something for the children, we always try our level best to keep contact with and give back to the community,” added Bartlett.
