Members of the Primrose police arrested a 33-year-old man for shoplifting, on Tuesday, July 22, at one of the biggest shops in Rietfontein Road.
This arrest was made when the store contacted the police and asked for assistance.
When officers arrived they found the accused with the store’s security guard; he was promptly handed over to them.
The shop owner explained that he had seen the man pick up five sweets but, when he came to the till to pay, he produced only one of the sweets.
The owner asked the security to stop the man before he reached the exit and to search him.
During the search the security guard found the additional four sweets.
The man was taken to the Primrose Police Station where he was formally charged.
