The metro is undergoing a transformation of its accounts administration processes.
In order to ensure that service providers are on board with changes, the metro’s finance department will embark on a road show, from next Monday.
The metro invites all of its current and prospective service providers to attend one of three road shows, which will be held at the Springs Civic Centre, Alberton Civic Centre and Germiston City Hall.
“The meetings are aimed at clarifying the municipality’s procurement processes and also to explain any changes that have been implemented in recent months, in order to increase compliance with legislation and improve the way in which we manage our service providers’ accounts,” said metro spokesman Themba Gadebe.
One of the changes to be implemented is a move from payment on date of invoice, to payment on date of statement.
This will give the municipality enough time to reconcile the accounts of service providers, as well as to collect outstanding invoices from various departments and central procuring offices.
“As a municipality, we want to explain to our contractors our plans to resolve the challenges we are currently facing and how they can assist us with this process,” concluded Gadebe.
The road show at the Germiston City Hall will take place on August 13 and 14, from 10am to 1pm.
