Anonymous tip-off leads to arrest

Man arrested for the possession of drugs.

The Primrose police, with the help of the Germiston Crime Intelligence Unit, recently arrested a 37-year-old man for the possession of drugs.

The arrest was made in Walker Road, when members of the Crime Intelligence Unit received a tip-off from members of community, about a suspicious-looking vehicle parked at the side of the road; its occupant was reportedly selling drugs.

Officers rushed to the scene and found the vehicle as described.

The occupant was asked to step out of the vehicle and when he and the car were searched, drugs were discovered.

“The driver could not explain where the drugs had come from or what he was doing parked in the street,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

He was arrested and brought to Primrose Police Station, where he was formally charged.

“We will keep on declaring war against crime in Primrose and all law-breakers will be brought to book,” added Maome.

The suspect appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court, where the case was remanded for plea and trial.
