Weeks without rubbish collection

How can a business function when its refuse is not collected?

The Casbah Roadhouse, on Rietfontein Road, in Primrose, is a popular eatery with a serious problem.

It is reported that the rubbish generated by the establishment has not been collected for several weeks.

When the owner attempted to stop the refuse collection service personnel to get them to collect the piled up rubbish heap, he was told that the road house doesn’t fall into their area.

The GCN sent an urgent email to the metro to ask:

  • What can be done about this situation?
  • When will the rubbish be collected?

Lebogang Ramashala, of the metro’s department of communications and brand management, responded to the query with the following statement: “The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality has contacted the consumer and made an arrangement for a new service to be implemented.

“Residents can contact the numbers printed on their refuse removal calendar for any complaints or enquiries on their waste removal service.”
