The hole’s depth made it a danger to the community.
Many residents of Primrose have noted the slow decline of a hole on the corner of Beaconsfield Avenue and Guava Road.
By Saturday morning the situation had worsened, leaving a huge hole in the road.
Residents attempted to mark the hole as best they could with danger tape, construction signs and even tree branches.
A GCN journalist went to the scene to take photos of what had become a dangerous situation.
The photos were sent to the metro along with a query asking:
What is the cause of this hole?
When will it be filled and/or repaired?
”The site was visited yesterday morning, September 3,” explained Themba Gadebe, from the metro’s department of communication and brand management.
“The backfilling of the hole was attended to and all temporary signs and barricading were removed by the service owners that worked there.
“Only the patching is outstanding.
“The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality’s Roads Department will attend to it.”
