The GCN was recently contacted by Peet van Wyk, who is experiencing a water pressure problem in his area.
According to van Wyk, who stays in Charlotte Court, in Cruywagen Park, the residents have been having a major problem with the water pressure.
“Various people in the building have been reporting the matter to the metro, but nothing ever gets done about the problem,” he said.
“Since the installation of a new water meter on the pavement, the whole block has experienced a major drop in water pressure and, some days, the water only drips from the taps.”
Van Wyk added that the problem is very frustrating for everyone and that they are concerned that if there is a fire at the flats there will be no water pressure to run the fire hoses.
The GCN asked the metro for comment on the matter, and spokesman Themba Gadebe said: “An investigation was conducted regarding the low water pressure at the block of flats.
“The water meter will be tested to verify if it is working properly and not causing the water pressure problem.
“If it is found to be faulty, the meter will be replaced at no cost to the consumers.
“This matter is receiving our urgent attention and should be resolved soon.”
