Police share their arrest statistics

Primrose police have their hands full.

The Primrose Police Station recently released their arrest statistics for the week from October 13 to 19.

There were 36 arrests during the week, with suspects being held for various crimes in the Primrose area.

These included:

  •  Assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm: 7
  •  Common assault: 4
  •  Theft: 4
  •  Drunk and disorderly behaviour: 1
  •  Possession of drugs: 3
  •  Shoplifting: 1
  • Dealing in/selling liquor without a licence: 1
  •  Housebreaking and theft: 3
  •  Armed robbery: 2
  •  Possession of stolen property: 2
  •  Pointing a firearm: 1
  •  Possession of an unlicensed firearm: 1
  •  Illegal possession of live ammunition: 1
  •  Driving under the influence: 2
  •  Illegal immigrants: 3.

“The station commander, Col Mduduzi Khuzwayo, thanks everyone who has contributed to these successes,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

Most of the suspects appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court, where the cases were postponed for various reasons.

The illegal immigrants will be taken to Lindela Deportation Centre, from where they will be deported to their countries of origin.
