A 37-year-old man was recently arrested by the Primrose police, in Primrose East, following a report of domestic violence.
The arrest was made when the victim called the police after she was attacked by her husband.
She explained to officers that she went to fetch her children from school and, when she returned home, her son informed her that his father was drinking alcohol.
She decided to go to her room.
Her husband followed her and an argument started.
“She asked him to leave her alone, but he didn’t,” explained communications officer for the Primrose police, Sgt Styles Maome .
“She claims it was then that the accused slapped her with an open hand and she fell to the floor.
“When she tried to get up, he punched her with his fist.
“The children screamed and the accused left her.”
The victim then called the police and the suspect was arrested as soon as the officers arrived on scene.
“We are appealing to our community to seek help when their relationship is not going well; they must not take law into their own hands,” added Maome.
The man later appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court, where the case was postponed for trial.
