The Germiston SAPS are urging the community to look after their safety this festive season.
“Take extra precautions and be alert as to what is happening around you,” said WO André de Jager, communications officer for the police station.
The SAPS will target all criminals in the Germiston area, as they are still maintaining a zero tolerance approach towards crime in their policing area.
The police warn the community to be extra careful when doing the following:
- The police warn the community to be extra careful when they withdraw money that they are not followed or robbed when exiting the banks.
- Be highly alert when sitting in your car while having a conversation with someone, as you become a perfect target for hijackers.
- If you are sitting in your parked vehicle in a parking lot, do not open your windows too wide, as criminals see this as an opportunity.
- Do not park your cars or visitors’ cars on the pavement in front of your home, rather park them inside your premises.
- Make sure you lock the gate to your property, as well as the security gates of your home, at all times, as open gates will invite unwanted elements into your home.
- Do not walk alone in quiet areas or places.
- If you are going on holiday, make sure somebody will look after your property while you are enjoying your festive holiday.
Brig Samuel Thambo, the Germiston SAPS station commander and his management team thank the Germiston community for all their assistance during the year in the fight against crime and wish them a blessed festive season.
“Community members are also urged to drive safely if they are going away on holiday,” de Jager said.
