The arrests were made during several operations, held throughout the week.
Twenty-eight suspects were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, seven illegal taverns were closed down, and volumes of alcohol confiscated.
Seventy-seven suspects were arrested during a stop-and-search, on charges ranging from possession of car breaking implements, common robbery, business robbery and theft, possession of drugs, dealing in drugs, theft, domestic violence, rape and assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, to reckless and negligent driving, attempted theft of a motor vehicle and possession of gold dust.
Cluster commander Brig Phumla Mdlankomo thanked all stations and departments who contributed to these arrests and encouraged members of the Germiston stations to double their efforts and make our cluster the safest place in the province.
A number of the suspects appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court, where many of their cases were postponed for various reasons.
