Eskom to push load shedding to stage two from 2pm
Load shedding stage two to be implemented.
After implementing stage one load shedding Eskom has announced that stage two will come into effect from 2pm this afternoon (Wednesday).
This is due to the fact that two of the company’s generators at its Majuba and Lethabo power stations went offline during the early hours of the morning due to technical faults.
Eskom has warned that its reserves are marginal and its systems are very old, placing the entire electricity grid at risk.
Eskom’s Khulu Phasiwe said, “We don’t have enough generating capacity to meet the demands.
“That is why from 10am this morning until 10pm in the evening, we’re going to implement various stages of load shedding.”
The company continued to urge customers to use energy sparingly and has once again appealed to customers to switch off non-essential appliances to conserve electricity and assist in easing the demand on the national power grid.
