Football skills in Delville

The chase continues.

The 2014/2015 SAB League saw Germiston Rays battle it out with Diambars Academy at the Delville Sports Club on Sunday.

The two teams seemed to have dusted off the holiday rust before their encounter.

The local Rays were nervous from the get-go, and Diambars took this as an advantage which caused the Rays to play their long shot and fast paced gameplay.

Diambars were in full attack mode, owning ball possession, with Rays reverting to a full out defense mode.

Rays managed to keep to their defense line until half time.

During the second half, it appeared that the Rays had gone to the drawing board as they emerged with a restructured working formation.

Rays increased their ball possession and shots on target, giving them a chance at winning the game.

But, without expecting it, a shot from the Diambars put them in the lead.

This was short-lived as Rays scored an equaliser goal.

Fair play gave way before Diambars extended their lead to 2-1.

Boksburg’s Diambars seemed to be relaxed after their second goal but Rays didn’t give up.

Their perseverance was rewarded and they managed to score another goal just before the endgame whistle.

After the match the players shook hands to their 2-2 draw.
