The petrol price has decreased by 93 cents

More relief at the pumps for motorists.

Motorists were treated to an even lower petrol price as they filled their tanks this morning (Wednesday).

The Department of Energy confirmed that petrol has dropped in price.

Based on current local and international factors, the fuel prices have dropped in the following ways:

  • Petrol has decreased by 93 cents per litre,
  • Diesel has decreased by R1.02 per litre,
  • Illuminating paraffin (SMNRP) has decreased by R1.36 per litre,
  • Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) has decreased by R1.50 per kilogram.

Minister of Energy, Tina Joematt-Pettersson said, “The main reason for the fuel price decreases is the continued drop in the price of crude oil which led to a decrease in the prices of petroleum products (petrol, diesel, illuminating paraffin and LPG) in the international markets.”

Despite the latest drop in the fuel price motorists are urged to still use their petrol sparingly.
