Local author publishes fourth book

Local author’s book doing well.

Young Solheim author Nico Smit is thrilled to have recently had his fourth youth novel published.

“Kruis voor my uit” is also Smit’s first academic publication and is about sexual molestation.

This book is already in its fourth edition and is doing very well.

Smit is a full-time qualified counsellor and has a degree in theology (BTh).

He is currently busy with his master’s degree in theology at the University of Pretoria and will complete it this year.

He wrote “Kruis voor my uit” as he mainly works with children who have been sexually molested and, through his book, he wanted to give each person who has experienced this a voice.

He first only wrote it as a youth novel, but then Genadendal Education approached him and requested him to give the book an academic side, which he did.

Dr Chris Malan (PhD-registered therapist) helped him with the academic voice of the book and he is most grateful for all of his help.

Smit is currently touring with “Kruis voor my uit” and gives motivational speeches at schools, churches and events.

“Kruis voor my uit” is available at all major bookstores nationwide and libraries.

Smit can be contacted via e-mail for motivational speeches at nico@nicactive.co.za.
