Man accused of stealing clothes

Man denies stealing clothes.

Two men recently visited the Primrose Police Station in Poppy Street.

One of the men told the officers on duty that the other man was wearing his stolen clothes.

“The victim’s clothes had been stolen in a housebreaking and theft earlier in the year,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

The accused denied that the clothes were stolen, and said he had bought them from someone in the Germiston CBD.

“Officers asked him to produce a proof of payment, which he could not,” Maome said.

He was arrested.

He has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court for the possession of suspected stolen property.

His case was postponed for plea and trial.
