Tip-off leads to man’s arrest

Man arrested for the illegal possession of live ammunition to appear in court.

During a recent police patrol in the Makause informal settlement, officers received an anonymous tip-off.

“The informant told police about a 31-year-old who was in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

Officers traced the accused and while searching the man, the officers found five rounds of live ammunition.

“He could not give them a clear explanation as to where he had gotten the ammunition and could not produce a firearm licence,” Maome explained.

The man was arrested and detained at the Primrose Police Station.

He will appear in the Germiston Magistrates Court soon for the illegal possession of live ammunition.
