Man arrested for armed robbery

Man uses sharp object to threaten woman while he steals her handbag.

A 20-year-old man was recently arrested by the Primrose police for armed robbery.

The arrest was made when officers chased and cornered the accused after they witnessed the incident.

“The victim explained that she had been walking along Astronomy Road when the accused attacked her and threatened her with a sharp object,” said communications officer for the Primrose police, Sgt Styles Maome.

The man allegedly grabbed her handbag before running away.

He was arrested and detained at the Primrose Police Station.

He has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court where his case was postponed for a bail application.
