The Katlehong South police arrested six suspects for various offences.
The arrests were made during routine stop-and-search operations conducted by Katlehong South SAPS Crime Prevention Unit members.
One of the suspects, a 24-year-old man, was arrested in Spruitview for being in possession of a hijacked motor vehicle.
The police were patrolling in Spruitview when they received information from a tracking company about a vehicle driving around the area.
They found the vehicle and, upon investigation, it was ascertained that it had been hijacked in Bloemfontein.
Two men were inside the vehicle; one managed to run away, while the police arrested the other suspect inside the car.
He was charged with possession of a hijacked motor vehicle and he may also be charged with hijacking.
The police are still looking for the suspect who ran away.
The arrested man is expected to appear in the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court soon.
The other five suspects were arrested for housebreaking and theft and for being in possession of dagga.
