ANC gets most votes in Ekurhuleni metro and most of the wards in Germiston

The votes have been counted and the IEC has announced the results.

In Ekurhuleni, the ANC got the most votes with 48.64 per cent; the DA came second with 33.65 per cent and the EFF third with 11.23 per cent of the votes, according to the IEC website.

In Germiston, the ANC took wards 21 (52.43 per cent); 35 (47.95 per cent); 40 (64.49 per cent); 50 (81.77 per cent); 51 (68.41 per cent) and 93 (58.61 per cent).

The DA won wards 20 (87.12 per cent); 36 (80.03 per cent); 39 (80.9 per cent) and 92 (72.98 per cent).

In Gauteng the ANC got 45.85 per cent of the votes, followed by the DA with 37.21 per cent and then the EFF with 11.38 per cent.

In the country as a whole, the ANC garnered 53.91 per cent of the votes, followed by the DA on 26.89 per cent and the EFF with 8.2 per cent.
