The Primrose police recently arrested a 30-year-old man for an armed robbery which allegedly took place in the Delport informal settlement.
Officers were alerted to the crime when the victim of the alleged attack opened a case at the Primrose Police Station.
“He explained to police that he had been walking in the informal settlement when he was attacked by two men, one of whom he recognised.
“The men allegedly pushed him to the floor and began to kick him, during which the accused stabbed him with a sharp object,” said communications officer for the Primrose police, Sgt Styles Maome.
The man passed out and later woke up in hospital where he discovered in addition to the stab wound he had several broken bones and his wallet was missing.
“The victim claims that the accused came to visit him in hospital and apologised for what he had done.
“He promised to help care for the victim when he was released from hospital,” said Maome.
When the man was released from hospital he contacted his attacker to make good the promise made, but his attacker allegedly told him to go to hell.
“The accused denied any responsibility for the man’s injuries,” Maome said.
It was then the victim reported the matter to the police.
“We appeal to our community to refrain from making personal agreements when a crime is committed; instead follow the proper channels,” said Maome.
The suspect was detained at the Primrose Police Station pending his appearance in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court.
