Be prepared for more thunderstorms and hot weather
South African Weather Service warns that severe thunderstorms are predicted for this afternoon and evening.
The South African Weather Service has asked residents to be prepared for more thunderstorms, heavy rainfall and hot weather.
The service this morning released the following warnings:
- Severe Thunderstorms
Severe thunderstorms with the possibliblity of heavy downpours, localised flooding and hail are expected in parts of Gauteng.
These storms are expected to hit the province between 2pm and 10pm today.
- Veld Fire Conditions
A veld fire warning has been issued for the southern parts of Gauteng, and may be attributed to the hot dry weather in the region.
- High discomfort values
Hot and humid weather will result in extremely uncomfortable conditions over Gauteng for the rest of the week heading into the weekend.
Motorists are reminded to take the necessary precautions when travelling.
They are encouraged to reduce speed and increase their following distances and headlights should be kept on at all times to increase visibility.
Residents should also ensure that they shelter their pets.
