Be prepared for more thunderstorms and hot weather

South African Weather Service warns that severe thunderstorms are predicted for this afternoon and evening.

The South African Weather Service has asked residents to be prepared for more thunderstorms, heavy rainfall and hot weather.

A 60 per cent chance of rainfall has been predicted in the province for the remainder of the week, with temperatures remaining in the high 20s to low 30s.

The service this morning released the following warnings:

  • Severe Thunderstorms

Severe thunderstorms with the possibility of heavy downpours, localised flooding and hail are expected in parts of Gauteng for the remainder of the week.

  • High discomfort values

Hot and humid weather will result in extremely uncomfortable conditions over Gauteng for the rest of the week heading into the weekend.

Motorists are reminded to take the necessary precautions when travelling.

They are encouraged to reduce speed and increase their following distances and headlights should be kept on at all times to increase visibility.

Residents should also ensure that their pets have appropriate shelter and enough clean water.
