A 20-year-old man was recently arrested by the Katlehong South police for shoplifting.
The arrest was made at the Sontonga Mall.
It is alleged that the suspect entered a local store and took a number of items before heading straight to the exit.
A security guard standing at the door stopped the man and asked him for his till slip for the items.
“When he was unable to give the security guard his till slip he was detained and the police called to the store,” said Capt Mega Ndobe, of the Ekurhuleni West cluster.
Officers arrived on the scene and arrested the accused.
He was held at the Katlehong South Police Station pending his appearance in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court.
