I’m shocked by Jub-Jub’s parole

"My suggestion to this is that, let both Jub-Jub and his co-accused return home, find jobs and then contribute 50% of their earnings towards their unfortunate victims. Only then will the parole be justified, in my mind."

As much as we make noise about crime and its impact on society in the townships, our police and the justice system seem to be failing those who have been victims of crime in our communities.

For me, the news currently trending about the parole granted to Jub-Jub and his co-accused by the Justice Department after serving only fours years of their eight-year sentence, is proof of my opening remark about crime and the attitude of the police and the justice system towards the victims of crime.

Releasing Jub-Jub and his co-accused means absolutely nothing to the families of those who died, or to the two teenagers whose lives have been left permanently destroyed by the actions of Jub-Jub and his co-accused four years ago.

And instead of making them pay for their evil deeds, the justice system has instead reduced their sentences and allowed them to go home free.

My suggestion to this is that, let both Jub-Jub and his co-accused return home, find jobs and then contribute 50% of their earnings towards their unfortunate victims. Only then will the parole be justified, in my mind.
