Quick work by police officers led to the recovery of a suspected stolen vehicle, on Wednesday.
Members of the Ekurhuleni West Cluster Crime Prevention Task Team received information to be on the lookout for the vehicle which had allegedly been stolen in Germiston.
Const Zebron Ndlela received the coordinates from a tracking company and traced the vehicle and the suspects to the Twala section, in Katlehong.
“The police officer and his colleague approached the vehicle but the suspects ran away and jumped into a Toyota Corolla and sped off,” said Capt André de Jager, spokesman for Ekurhuleni West Cluster.
Ndlela left his colleague at the suspected stolen vehicle and chased the Toyota.
“The suspects then abandoned the Toyota in the Nkema section and fled the scene,” De Jager said.
No arrests have been made.
Upon further investigation it was determined that the Toyota had also been stolen and a case registered in Primrose.
The stolen vehicle, a Hyundai H100, traced by the police, was stolen in Germiston and a case opened at the Germiston Police Station.
“The members were congratulated for their dedicated police work and for recovering two stolen vehicles,” said De Jager.
