Help Taylor make a difference

Taylor Matthyser challenges the community to make a difference in the lives of those fighting cancer.

Taylor Matthyser, from Elspark, is determined to make a difference in the lives of those fighting cancer.

One way she does this is by growing, cutting and donating her hair so that it can be made into wigs.

“I decided to grow and cut my hair again because there are girls out there who can’t grow their own hair and I can grow my hair as long as Rapunzel’s if I want to,” she said.

This determined young girl has donated her ponytail to Cansa twice since 2015, and while she is currently in the process of growing her hair long enough to donate again, she hasn’t stopped trying to make a difference.

Taylor is challenging the community to get involved in this worthy cause, and with the help of her family and friends will be hosting Taylor’s Cut4Cansa Challenge in October.

This will be the second year the family is hosting the event.

“We wanted to have the event in October again as it is a month when the focus is on women’s cancers and Taylor started this journey because of her grandmother,” explained Charlene, Taylor’s mother.

The event will be held at the Elspark Sports Complex, located on the corner of Heidelberg Road and Egret Street in Elspark, on October 6 from 10am.

Community members who attend the event are encouraged to show their support by spraying or even cutting their hair.

A nominal entrance fee will be charged to help raise additional funds.
