The Primrose SAPS responded to a gruesome murder scene in the Makause informal settlement on Saturday.
Upon arrival, they found an unknown woman in her late 20s.
She had sustained two stab wounds to her upper body and the skin of her face had been removed.
“While on the scene, a passerby informed the police that he had seen blood leading to a shack.
“The police went to the shack and found the owner who informed them that she rented out the shack to someone,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose SAPS.
“She opened the shack and officers discovered a pool of blood on the floor but the man who rented it was not there.”
Paramedics were called to the scene and declared the victim dead.
The police began a manhunt for the suspect.
He was arrested by members of the Provincial SAPS Task Team at his place of work in Germiston on Monday.
He is being detained at the Primrose Police Station pending his appearance in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court on a charge of murder.
