Eight suspects arrested in Katlehong

Katlehong police arrested eight suspects, on Thursday, for various crimes.

The Katlehong police’s Crime Prevention Unit officers and detectives from the Katlehong Police Station hosted several operations within their precinct on Thursday, which led to the arrest of eight suspects for various offences.

Four of the eight suspects arrested during the operations were charged with assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

It is alleged that the four suspects, aged between 26 and 58 and believed to be relatives, beat a tenant who failed to pay rent to the landlord.

“The arrested family members, from Khumalo section in Katlehong, include three men and one woman,” said Capt Mega Ndobe, the Katlehong police’s corporate communications official.

“We discourage our community from taking the law into their own hands.”

In other arrests, a man was charged with theft, another with crimen injuria and domestic violence and two for rape.

All of the arrested suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court where their cases were postponed for various reasons.
