Suspect taken into custody for possession of live ammunition

Elsburg Vispol Unit’s crime prevention patrol leads to the arrest of a 17-year-old.

Const Erin Palmer and Const Raisibe Ramotshela, members of the Elsburg Vispol Unit, were patrolling in the area last Monday when they made a successful arrest.

The two noticed a suspicious, unknown man carrying a small black bag in his hands.

“They approached him and asked him what he was carrying in the black bag.

“It was found that he was carrying silver coins and four rounds of live ammunition,” said Const Daphney Phooko, communications officer for the Elsburg SAPS.

“The suspect was then instructed to empty his pockets but nothing illegal was found.”

The 17-year-old boy was arrested and transferred to a place of safety where he will remain until his court appearance.

He is due to appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon, to face a charge of possession of live ammunition.
