Stop-and-search operations continue in Katlehong

The Katlehong police arrested eight suspects in a stop-and-search operation on Thursday.

Katlehong police hosted another stop-and-search operation on Thursday.

The operation, which led to the arrest of eight suspects, continued the Katlehong SAPS Crime Prevention Unit’s ongoing efforts to curb crime in the area.

The accused were charged with a number of different offences.

Charges included:

• Common assault: 2

• Intimidation: 2

• Arson: 1

• Shoplifting: 1

• Dealing in drugs: 1

• Possession of drugs: 1

All of the arrested suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, where their cases were postponed for a number of different reasons.

Katlehong SAPS acting station commander Col Doctor Sibuyi called for the community to report crimes and criminal activities in the area, without fear that they will be targeted by the offenders.
