Crystal meth, Kat and dagga valued at R51 000 seized in Germiston CBD

EMPD officers seize drugs in special operation.

A special operation by members of the EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit on Wednesday morning in the Germiston CBD yielded the arrest of a man allegedly in possession of narcotics.

The drugs had an estimated street value of R51 000.

The 40-year-old man was arrested at 8.30am in President Street.

“In his possession officers found one plastic bag full of crystal methamphetamine, weighing 142.43g, one plastic bag of Kat (47.78g), three ziplock bags of dagga (4.90g) and 16 crack pipes,” said Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, spokesperson for the EMPD.

The arrested suspect was detained at the Germiston Police Station on charges of possession and dealing in narcotics.

He was expected to appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
