Man nabbed for perjury

Katlehong SAPS issues stern warning about opening false cases and wasting state resources.

Katlehong SAPS station commander Brig Sammy Thambo has sent a stern warning to the community after a man was recently arrested on a charge of perjury.

“The community must not waste state resources by reporting false cases,” Thambo said.

The man was arrested after he allegedly opened a case stating his brother had been shot at by someone.

“During the investigation, police discovered the alleged shooter and victim lived at the same address, but neither were home,” said Const Sivenkosi Mtwa, communications officer for the Katlehong SAPS.

“Officers then travelled to the local clinic, where the alleged victim had been taken.

“But after interviewing a staff member, they discovered that no one had been brought in for a gunshot wound.”

The man was arrested and held at the Katlehong Police Station pending his appearance in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court.
