As unrest swept through Gauteng last Monday the Katlehong police took to the streets in a crime prevention operation.
During the operation, conducted by members of the Katlehong SAPS Crime Prevention Unit and detectives from the Katlehong Police Station, six suspects were arrested.
The accused were charged with a number of different offences.

Charges included:
• Assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm: 3
• Assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm and possession of live ammunition: 1
• Driving under the influence of alcohol: 1
• Possession of suspected stolen property: 1

All of the arrested suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, where their cases were postponed for various reasons.
Following the arrests, Katlehong SAPS station commander Brig Sammy Thambo sent a stern warning to the community not to use violence to address issues they have.
“Residents must use the correct platforms to address their issues,” said Thambo.
“They must not resort to violence.”
