Man allegedly destroys cellphone

The Primrose police apprehended a man on a charge of malicious damage to property.

Primrose police arrested a 41-year-old man on a charge of malicious damage to property.

The man was arrested in Gumtree Road, last Saturday, after his girlfriend opened a case against him.

“The complainant alleged that she and her boyfriend were in their shared room when the incident took place,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“She further explained that though the pair were sharing a room they were sleeping in separate beds as they were having problems in their relationship.

“She was sitting on her bed with her cellphone when the suspect allegedly demanded to see her phone, and she refused.

“He allegedly grabbed the phone and threw it against the wall destroying it.”

The man was arrested and taken to the Primrose Police Station.

He will appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon.
