Officers from the Katlehong SAPS Crime Prevention Unit, with the help of detectives from the Katlehong Police Station and the EMPD, hit the streets in several weekend operations.
The operations held between October 25 and 27 led to the arrest of 40 suspects.

The accused were charged with several different offences.
Charges included assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, common assault, domestic violence, malicious damage to property, possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of suspected stolen property, possession of live ammunition, possession of drugs, dealing in drugs and driving under the influence of alcohol.
Katlehong SAPS station commander Col Sammy Thambo was pleased with the arrests made and encouraged the community to continue to help in the fight against crime.

“We will do our utmost to ensure the community is safe throughout the festive season,” said Thambo.
All of the arrested suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court where their cases were postponed for various reasons.
