Stop-and-search yields results

Katlehong police arrested 15 suspects during a daily stop-and-search operation, last Tuesday.

Fifteen suspects were arrested in Katlehong, last Tuesday.

The suspects were arrested during a daily crime prevention stop-and-search operation carried out by members of the Katlehong Crime Prevention Unit, with the help of detectives from the Katlehong Police Station.

The suspects were arrested for several different offences.

Charges included rape, sexual assault, assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, common assault, domestic violence, intimidation, malicious damage to property, theft, shoplifting, defeating the ends of justice and possession of drugs.

All of the arrested suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court where their cases were postponed for various reasons.

Katlehong SAPS station commander Brig Sammy Thambo urged the community to be alert and aware of their surroundings at all times.
