Hospice East Rand celebrates Hospice Week
Hospices will use this week to raise awareness about their services.
Hospice Week is celebrated from May 3 to 10.
It is a week in which to raise awareness about hospices and the valuable assistance they provide to patients with life-limiting illnesses, as well as the support they give to family members.
The theme for this year’s Hospice Week is Passion for Compassion and the aim for the week is to demonstrate compassion in communities and to reflect on the compassionate care that hospice workers provide to patients and their families.

Hospices will use this week to raise awareness about the essential service they provide regardless of the patients’ age, race or ability to pay.
Hospice East Rand affirms their belief that it is not about death and dying, but rather about life and living and the quality of life for those with life-limiting illnesses.
“We will be utilising our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/HospiceEastRand/) to create a ‘wall of compassion’ where community members are asked to write their story/words of compassion,” said Jonquil Siepman, marketing and media liaison for Hospice East Rand.
“The aim is to share stories of compassion and increase the passion for compassion within our communities.”
