Hungry families of Delport informal settlement receive support

Primrose police assisted members of the Muslim Association of South Africa (MASA) to distribute food parcels in the Delport informal settlement.

Desperate and vulnerable families from the Delport informal settlement recently received some much-needed help from local NGO Muslim Association of South Africa (MASA).

The team, assisted by the Primrose police, donated food parcels to approximately 1 000 families affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown.

“During the handout, all precautionary measures announced by the government to prevent the spread of the virus were followed,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“Mask wearing and social distancing were practised and no large numbers of people were allowed to gather.

“Instead, community members were supplied with coupons with the specified time at which one member of the family should come and collect the food parcel.”

Maome thanked everyone involved in making the handover a success.
