Learners informed about cyberbullying, receive masks and sanitiser donation
Learners were urged to report incidents and were reminded to be mindful of how they use social media and what information they share on these platforms.
Laerskool Die President had a visit from Trouw Nutrition and the Primrose SAPS Youth Desk on November 3.
The purpose of the visit was to donate masks, hand sanitiser and whistles as well as inform learners about cyberbullying.
“Our company has a day where we dedicate our time to visiting the communities we serve and live in,” said Liezle Bridgeford from Trouw Nutrition SA.
She said for the past two years they were involved with El Shammah.

“We are not new in the Primrose area. This year, we saw the need to keep learners safe due to Covid-19 and decided to donate to the school.
“Sanitiser and masks are always in demand and reminding the children of their safety is an everyday necessity. We donated 650 lanyards with whistles and sanitiser, as well as 650 disposable masks,” said Bridgeford.
She said the whistles are to assist the children in case of an abduction.
“They can use these to alert people if they are in trouble,” said Bridgeford.
Tshegofatso Maponya from Primrose Youth Desk hosted a talk about cyberbullying.
She urged learners to report incidents and reminded them to be mindful of how they use social media and what information they share on these platforms.
“If you are being cyberbullied you need to report it because if the matter is not properly handled it can get out of control.
“Remember that nobody has the right to ask you for inappropriate photos of yourself,” said Tshegofasto.
The school’s acting principal, Maria Gildenhys, thanked Trouw Nutrition and the SAPS for visiting the school.
