WATCH: Health workers remembered at Bertha Gxowa Hospital
At the service, emotional health care workers and family members of the late and retired workers gathered to pay their respects.
The year 2020 has been a long year and many have lost their loved ones.
Some of the lives lost were those of the brave frontline workers at Bertha Gxowa Hospital (BGH).
On December 9, the hospital held a service of remembrance for the workers they lost in 2020.
Some of the workers’ deaths were not a result of Covid-19 but from illnesses.

Lehlohonolo Moleli, the hospital’s bereavement committee chairperson, said the day was a special occasion for the staff and families.
“We lost staff members during a hard time when we as colleagues couldn’t even attend the funerals. The service was our way of bidding them farewell.”
Former CEO of BGH Christina Mndaweni attended to encourage health workers who are still on the frontline and to celebrate the lives of the workers who died.
