Drinking and driving motorists arrested
Kobeli Mokheseng, EMPD spokesperson, said their officers arrested offenders between the ages of 29 and 55 in Germiston.
EMPD Speed Enforcement and Overload Control officers arrested 33 male and female motorists for driving under the influence of alcohol between February 26 and 28.

“Officers conducted roadblocks, where they stopped and tested motorists suspected to be under the influence of alcohol, using portable breathalysers on President and Linton Jones streets.”

The 33 people who failed the sobriety test were handcuffed and marched to the Germiston Police Station.
“All the arrested offenders are expected to appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court’s soon,” said the spokesperson. Mokheseng added during the operations, all Covid-19 protocols were followed.
