Police are appealing to any information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects on crime stop 08600 10111 or MySAPS App.

Elsburg police are appealing to the community of Wadeville and Roodekop informal settlements to step forward if they have information about a business robbery on March 30 in Dekema Road in Wadeville.

“The security officer patrolling the premises was in the guard room when a man approached and pointed a firearm at him. The suspect demanded to know the whereabouts of other security officers,” said Elsburg police spokesperson Sgt Daphney Phooko.

She said the suspect’s two accomplices walked into the guard room and one was armed with a shotgun.

“They used cable ties to secure the victim, and then took his cellphone and left him in the guard room. They proceeded to the workshop where other employees were busy working. They took three cellphones, one gas stove and one gas cylinder,” said Phooko.

The Trio Task Team was summoned to the scene.

“When the suspects realised the police were on the hunt for them they dropped the gas stove, gas cylinder and one cellphone and crossed the river to the side of Roodekop informal settlement,” said Phooko.
