Thirty two intoxicated drivers, one speedster arrested
All the 33 detained suspects are expected to appear in the Boksburg, Palmridge and Germiston magistrate’s courts soon.
EMPD officers arrested 32 intoxicated drivers and one motorist for speeding on April 3. Kobeli Mokheseng EMPD spokesperson said the Social Crime Prevention, Overload Control units and precinct officers staged roadblocks on Osborn, Lamp, Lambert, President, Main, Trichardts, Northrand and Main Reef roads.
Thirty 30 men and two women were tested for sobriety using portable breathalysers.
“Two taverns in Dawn Park and Elsburg, operating just after 11pm, were instructed to switch off and lock gates, Thirty eight traffic fines for defects, documentations, using a cellphone while driving, safety belts, missing registration and expired licence discs were issued to transgressors.”

Mokheseng said at 10pm, a blue Mercedes-Benz failed to stop at the roadblock on Osborn Road when instructed to do so.
“The vehicle was cornered in Buhle Park phase two, where the male driver stopped the vehicle in the middle of a roadway. The vehicle was impounded to the EMPD yard in Alberton for safekeeping. All the detained suspects, are expected to appear in court soon.”
