Residents start #WheelchairChallenge

Juliet Hector said Priscilla Engelbrecht started the wheelchair challenge with the collection of bottle caps.

Germiston residents are urged to join the #WheelchairChallenge project to help those who need wheelchairs.
Martie Hill, a 93-year-old woman who was struggling with walking short distances as her mobility became problematic, was confined to her house.
Through the help of three vibrant women and customers of Manhattan Hill, Martie received a wheelchair on August 11.
Juliet Hector said Priscilla Engelbrecht started the wheelchair challenge with the collection of bottle caps.
The bottle caps are collected by Lynne Crawcour and when sufficient caps have been collected, Priscilla takes them to Interwaste in exchange of a wheelchair. A total of 450kg of bottle caps are required for one wheelchair.
“We request the community’s assistance in this regard. Bottle caps can be dropped off at Manhattan at the corner of Second Avenue and Second Street in Lambton,” said Juliet.
For more information, contact Priscilla on 081 737 5101 or Juliet on 084 501 3564.
