Marathon residents get vaccinated

“It’s essential that everyone gets vaccinated so everybody can get back to normal,” said Morgan.

City of Ekurhuleni’s health officials engaged with the community of Marathon informal settlement during their pop-up vaccination programme.
The programme aimed to vaccinate 1 500 residents by the end of the day, in partnership with stakeholders like SAPS, EMPD, CPF and the Muslim Association of South Africa (Massa).
“The pop-up project was to screen and test people eligible for vaccination and vaccinating residents who haven’t been vaccinated,” said Joyce Mdluli, Ekurhuleni Department of Health South District official.
Mdluli said residents can send a WhatsApp message to 060 012 3456 or they can send an SMS to *134*832#.
Arshad Bodiat of Masa said the association decided to assist vaccinations to get more people vaccinated.
Clr Wendy Morgan urged the community to get vaccinated.
“It’s essential that everyone gets vaccinated so everybody can get back to normal,” said Morgan.
“Let’s vaccinate to protect ourselves and our loved ones,” said resident Professor Cetshana.
