Primrose shop owner shot during robbery

"Officers were patrolling the area when they noticed a commotion at the shop. They stopped to investigate," Primrose SAPS spokesperson Sgt Styles Maome said.

Police are investigating a business robbery at a Rietfontein Road business on January 31.

“Officers were patrolling the area when they noticed a commotion at the shop. They stopped to investigate,” Primrose SAPS spokesperson Sgt Styles Maome said.

“When they noticed the officers, they ran towards a getaway car parked a few metres from the shop.

“The suspects shot at the police, who retaliated. They managed to drive away.

“On inspecting the scene, officers found two victims. One was the owner of the shop and the other one was a client.

“The owner has been shot and was later hospitalised. At this stage, we cannot confirm if something was taken, as the shop owner is still in hospital.”
