Die President welcomes Grade Ones

“We had a 94% pass percentage across the schools last year and hope to improve it to 96% this year.”

Laerskool Die President welcomed 135 new Grade One learners as they started their first day of primary school.
Parents were emotional as they sent their children to school on the warm, windy morning.

Learners dressed in their school uniforms symbolised the spirit of unity as they marched through the school gates to begin their year.

Monya Redelinghuys and Lufuno Dlamini are delighted to start their schooling.

As the day progressed, the City NEWS joined the celebration, photographing Grade One learners on their first day of school.

Principal Ryno Rheeder introduced the NEWS to teachers and learners.

He stated their Grade One learners increased from 100 to 135 this year, prompting them to add one class.

“We had a 94% pass percentage across the schools last year and hope to improve it to 96% this year. It is key to build a partnership between the school and parents.

“We did our planning for the year last year. The learners had their books and stationery ready to learn on the first day,” said Rheeder.

For the second consecutive year, the school welcomes twins in its first grade.
