Operation Okae Molao continues to reap fruitful outcomes
Five illegal Shebeens were shut down.
Ekurhuleni District SAPS detectives arrested at least 230 wanted suspects for various crimes during the first phase of Operation Okae Molao, which began on the night of July 27.
According to Ekurhuleni District Commissioner Major General Anna Sithole, amongst the arrested suspects, 130 were napped for crimes such as assault, robbery, rape, intimidation, contempt of court, pointing a firearm at someone and kidnapping.
Sithole confirmed that ten Samsung televisions were recovered in Ivory Park, while in Brakpan police also recovered drugs including Mandrax, khat and crystal meth.

The second phase of the operation saw various law enforcement agencies in Ekurhuleni continue with the operation in Katlehong North and Eden Park policing precincts, led by Sithole, on July 28.
Police conducted roadblocks and stop-and-searches during the operation, while also searching for stolen vehicles and those tampered with.

Sithole said during both operations, 87 traffic fines valued at R 57 150 were issued to motorists for contravention of the Road Traffic Act, as well as ten J534 tickets valued at R 15 000 for second-hand goods and liquor non-compliance.

“While five were nabbed for possession of drugs such as Mandrax, khat and crystal meth, three were arrested for dealing in drugs, four for assault cases wherein two of them involved grievous bodily harm, two for house break-ins,” Sithole continued.
“Two were arrested for theft, one for contravention of a protection order, one for intimidation, one for murder with a warrant of arrest and five illegal shebeens were shut down,” she said.
